  • After an initial mistrial in 2007, Phil Spector returned to court in October 2008 for a retrial of Lana Clarkson's murder. The original trial lasted five months, ending in a locked jury count of 10-2 votes of guilty to not-guilty. California law calls for a unanimous decision for murder charges. The closing arguments in the second trial ended on March 24, 2009.

    During the second trial, Spector's defense maintained that Clarkson shot herself because she was depressed. Prosecutors argued that Spector killed her.
