Guide Note:
Phantasy Star II is a Role-Playing game from Sega that was originally released for the Sega Genesis.
Story
One thousand years have passed since Alis and her friends liberated Algo from the evil Lassic. Algo now prospers under the care of Mother Brain, a giant computer that regulates Climatrol Tower, Bio-Systems Lab, and everything else that provides the Mota people what they need. Rolf, the protagonist, heads from his home in the Paseo, to the Central Tower to meet with the Commander and to receive his newest mission. Things aren't what the seem and Rolf and with his companion Nei, the two set off on an adventure that ultimately leads them into the heart of a sinister plot that may mean the end of their entire solar system. Perhaps one of the most apocalyptic stories of it's time, Phantasy Star II broaches topics such as the sacrifice and death of close friends, global destruction, and the danger of a society too reliant on technology.
Gameplay
The game play is fairly simple, like most RPGs that came out during its time. Run, sail, and fly across a map, face enemies, and brave dungeons. Battle is turn-based and involves going into a battle screen when the random battle occurs. You can choose from actions on the menu and give instructions to all three of your party members. By the end of the game you have 7 playable characters, although you can only have three in your party. Each character has a special ability that you need to balance out when forming a party to fight bosses and monsters. You level your characters through fighting monsters and earning experience points. When you have enough you level up and the computer allocates the stats for you. Weapons and equipment are quite standard and are useful only to increase certain stats.
