Brief Biography
Born in The Netherlands, de Vries served in the Dutch military and later began a career in crime reporting. In January, 2008, de Vries interviewed van der Sloot on live Dutch television, and on several occasions challenged the teenager's truthfulness. After the broadcast, van der Sloot threw a glass of red wine in de Vries's face. Later that month, de Vries announced that he had hidden camera footage of van der Sloot admitting to disposing of Holloway's body.
