Pronovost has implemented a checklist for ICU staff that is centered around patient safety and hygienic practices.BaltimoreSun: Genius In Our Midst The checklist reduced the number of infections and saved approximately 1,500 lives in 70 different Michigan hospitals.BaltimoreSun: Genius In Our Midst According to Pronovost, much more money is spent on new drugs and therapies than is spent on basic patient research. He is considering using the money to further develop his checklist method, or creating software tools to help people find safe mortgages, good retirement investments and medical coverage.
