Peter Mansbridge is the first Canadian journalist to interview President Obama. He is the CBC's chief correspondent and the anchor of The National, CBC's flagship nightly program. Mansbridge hosts CBC News Network's Mansbridge, One on One a weekly half hour interview program with guests from all walks of like. Mansbridge has interviewed all Canadian prime ministers from John Diefenbaker to Stephen Harper.
Life and Career
Mansbridge dropped out of high school before graduating. He worked for the Royal Canadian Navy from 1966 to 1967. He joined CBC television in 1972. During the 40 years of successful career, he received 12 Geminy awards for excellence in broadcasting journalism. In 2008, Governar General Michaelle Jean made him an officer of the order of Canada.
