  • Peter Bergman has been nominated thirteen continuous years for the Best Actor Daytime Emmy. He won the coveted statue in 1991 and 1992. His father was a navy man and the constant moving turned him away from the military life style. He spent most of his youth in New York. Like metal to a magnet he was drawn to the theater so he worked in construction to be able to pay tuition at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Manhattan. He appeared off-Broadway and was a founder of the theater company, New York Acting Unit.
  • Bald Is Beautiful

His first debut was in a two-part episode primetime series Kojac but his real luck came when he joined the All My Children cast. In a years time he was voted Most Promising Newcomer by Soap Opera Digest. He was also given the title as part of one of daytime's most publicized young lover right behind Luke and Laura on General Hospital, playing the part of Dr. Cliff Warner along with Taylor Miller's role as Nina Cortlandt. This earned him his first Daytime Emmy nomination. He was surprised that he was fired from All My Children because he had the thought that he would one day play the new Chief of Staff after Joe Martin played by Ray MacDonnell.
  • Irony

The irony was that he played a doctor on a commercial for Vicks Formula 44 cough syrup and relayed to the viewing audience, "I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV." Chris Robinson who played Dr. Rick Webber on General Hospital also shares this distinction.
  • Keep It Real

Many television actors who leave the soaps hope to get a break in film or other venues but Peter Bergman pursued his venture in a series of primetime appearances. One of which was playing a soap opera star in which the cast was being murdered by one in the ABC movie Fantasies. Others included Almost Partners, Money, Power, Murder, and Palomino.
  • Security

Peter Bergman has played the role of John "Jack" Abbott Jr. on The Young and the Restless since 1989.
