Pete Carroll began his football coaching career while earning his master's degree in physical education at the University of the Pacific. He stayed there for three years, before moving on to an assistant coaching position with Lou Holtz at the University of Arkansas. He spent a year at Arkansas, and then went on to serve as an assistant at Iowa State, Ohio State and North Carolina State University, before ending up back at the University of the Pacific.Official Site: BiographyHe entered the NFL coaching ranks in 1984 and spent 10 years as an assistant coach with the Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings and New York Jets before being appointed head coach of the Jets in 1994.
