Pet Friendly Cities
Looking to explore a new U.S. city with your favorite, furry pal? There are many things to consider when traveling or moving with a pet, and the most important consideration is the final destination. As a responsible pet owner, it is important to check how well pets, such as dogs and cats, are received and catered to in the given city.
Though there are many animals that become beloved pets, this page will focus on the best U.S. cities for dogs and for cats, separately, because they are the two most popular pets that can walk. Both animals come in at a close second and third to freshwater fish.http://webcenters.netscape.compuserve.com/homerealestate/package.jsp?name=fte/popularpets/popularpets
The list of “dog-friendly” cities below was created with vacations strictly in mind, but if it is a fun place to play, it could be a fun place to stay as well! Dogfriendly.com rated the quality of accommodations, beaches, parks, stores, attractions, dining, transportation, and other dog-relative activities as it pertains to the amusement of our canine companions.
Though dogs and cats are perceived as opposites, the criteria for judging the best cities for each is not so different. Both the "dog-friendly" and "cat-friendly" lists considered which cities are most accepting of pets in public amenities and in local ordinances.
The top ten list for cats, however, focused more intently around the quality of medical care for our furry, feline friends. Perhaps this is because this list was complied by the CATalyst Council, a relatively new group that is working to raise public consciousness about proper cat care. Because cats tend to hide their illnesses well, they do not get the same constant check-up care as many dogs do.http://www.avma.org/press/releases/090327_CATalyst_Award.asp

Dogs Outnumber Kids in San Francisco
Since San Francisco makes it on both top ten lists, it is no argument that this city loves its pets! But who thought San Franciscans would love their pets more than say... other, albeit tinier, San Franciscans! In this [YouTube] video, the Associated Press reports that in America's most "dog-friendly" city, there are more dogs than there are children.
CATalyst Council Brings Awareness to Cat Care
This YouTube video is a good overview of how the list for the top ten most “cat-friendly” cities was composed. It includes interviews from different members of the CATalyst Council, includes cute cat footage (for all you cat lovers out there), and urges people to give cats the proper medical care, and love, they require.
