The city of Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. It's located along the Swan River and Indian Ocean, where its residents and visitors enjoy glorious beaches and scenery. Perth is now home to over 1.5 million people after having modest beginnings. It was founded in June of 1829 by British Captain James Stirling, who was the first governor of Western Australia. The majority of Perth's residents are British to this day.
