• Make Your Own Personalized Christmas Stocking

  For the DIY expert, embroidering a Christmas stocking might be a breeze...but what about the rest of us? It definitely isn't necessary to spend a pretty penny on a pricey customized stocking if you have existing Christmas stockings that you'd like to personalize.

  • Puff paint works well on flat, low-nap fabrics like velvet, felt or tight knits. This can be applied directly from the bottle and does not require a paintbrush, and there are many festive colors to choose from. If concerned about neatness, consider using a pre-bought stencil as a guide.
  • Fake fur and loosely-knit fabrics may be better suited to cut-out letters. Purchase a square of felt from a craft store and cut out letters (you can trace letters onto the felt with a marker or chalk to make this easier). Arrange the letters on the stocking and follow the instructions on a bottle of fabric glue to affix the letters to the fabric. These will need to dry overnight; consider pinning them in place to ensure they stay where you want them.
