Tears of St. Laurence
Reportedly, St. Laurentius was roasted alive by the Romans in 258 AD. It is said that he told his executioners, "I am already roasted on one side and, if thou wouldst have me well cooked, it is time to turn me on the other". When his family was given his body they saw streaks of light falling from the sky and assumed it was his "fiery tears falling from heaven".Vineyard Gazette Online: A Shower of Light (August 9, 2007) -
