Perry Mason is an American courtroom drama television series based on characters and situations created by mystery writer Erle Stanley Gardner. Raymond Burr played the titular character.
Burr Not First Choice
Raymond Burr's most recognizable role was not originally intended for him. Fred MacMurray, the first choice, turned down the part. Fortunately, series creator Erle Stanley Gardner wanted Burr for the part as soon as he saw the actor auditioning for a different part on the show.
