Plot
In need of a change, Larry Appleton (Mark Linn-Baker) moves to Chicago from Wisconsin, where he is visited by his distant cousin Balki Bartokomous (Bronson Pinchot) from the (fictional) island of Mypos.
Larry decides to take Balki in as a roommate, and help him adapt to American culture. Similar to The Odd Couple, Larry and Balki are nearly complete opposites, but perhaps for the better: Balki's optimism and naivety are evenly balanced by the neurotic nature of his "Cousin Larry."
During the series, Larry and Balki meet two stewardesses, Jennifer (Melanie Wilson) and Mary Anne (Rebeca Arthur), who coincidentally live in their building. A romance builds between Larry and Jennifer, and later Balki and Mary Anne. Both couples marry and have children by the series finale in 1993.
One of the original shows for ABC's TGIF lineup, Perfect Strangers remains popular in syndication worldwide.
