More Information about Peppermint Essential Oil
Peppermint Essential Oil is obtained through steam distillation of leaves, twigs, and flow buds of the Peppermint plant (Mentha piperita). Peppermint has a long history of use in soothing digestion and quelling nausea. More recently, however, studies have been performed which show that Peppermint Essential Oil has the ability to improve concentration and the retention of information. It has been used to reduce fevers and to treat headaches.Peppermint Essential Oil may be diffused, massaged onto skin with carrier oil for dilution, added to water or tea, or added to food as a flavoring. It can easily be added to homemade candies, soaps, candles, lip balms, or lotions, or it can be added to the laundering process to provide a fresh, minty smell which will discourage mildew.
As with all Essential Oils, it is best to test the oil in diluted form of a small patch of skin prior to using the oil. If there is an adverse reaction, dilute using carrier oil until the reaction subsides.
