Pentangle was a folk band that was active from the late 1960s to the early 1970s. Having started their musical career in Britain, the band was initially founded by Jacqui McShee, Jon Renbourne, Bert Jansch, Danny Thompson and Terry Cox. The original group remained together for over six years before the first line-up changes occurred.

History
In 1967, a gig was set up for Jansch and Renbourne to perform together at the Horsehoe Hotel. The two added McShee as their vocalist for the show. Following the success of that first show, the trio decided to add the remaining members of the band to their lineup.Quotes
"It is not a pop group, not a folk group and not a jazz group, but what it attempts is music which is a synthesis of all these and other styles as well as interesting experiments in each of them individually." — Henry Raynor of The Times"Pentangle were one of the most influential groups of the late 20th century and it would be wrong for the awards not to recognise what an impact they had on the music scene" — Producer John Leonard
