Penguins are flightless birds in the order Sphenisciformes, family Spheniscidae. Living over 75% of their lives in sea, penguins seek land for mating and molting.

Species
- Emperor Penguin: The largest species of penguins, capable of reaching heights of 4 feet and weighing up to 80 pounds. They can be found in Antarctica and form large breeding colonies that can include many thousands of penguins.
- Royal Penguin: A smaller species of penguin, they can be identified by the bright yellow plume of feathers that follow the contour of the top of their heads. Royal penguins also live in the Antarctic region and will breed only on Macquarie Island.
- Rockhopper Penguin: As their name hints, these penguins tend to hop around on rocky shores of islands including the Falkland Islands and other island groups located near Australia and South America. Physically, they resemble smaller versions of Royal or Macaroni penguins.
