Pendants

A pendant is an adornment that hangs from a necklace, bracelet, or earrings.

The use of pendants dates back to Ancient Egyptian times, with both men and women wearing large necklaces as means to show social status. The use of large pendants has continued over the following centuries, representing social status and wealth as well as a means to show religious beliefs or to display awards and medals.

Besides price, the style and material of a pendant are the most important factors for buying. The specific pendant on a piece of jewelry makes a statement about the person who wears it, so it is important to choose wisely to decide which style or object would best define the recipient or occasion. While very expensive pendants featuring gold and diamonds can be purchased, pendants can also be homemade, by stringing a gemstone or polished rock on a chain.
