Pecan pie is thought to have originated by the French in New Orleans after being introduced to pecans by the Native Americans. It's a sweet pie whose main ingredients are corn syrup and/or sugar, eggs and pecans. It is baked in a single pie crust. Some recipes call for both sugar and corn syrup, but it can be made without corn syrup entirely.
