The International Day of Peace was established by a Costa Rican sponsored United Nations resolution in 1981. In 2001 a new resolution was passed sponsored by the United Kingdom which appointed September 21 as a day of global ceasefire and non-violence.
21 September 2009 announced as [[International peace day 2009 by UN.VDM of this year is "We Must Disarm" 'Take actions for a world free of nuclear weapons.' Members of the UN are celebrating this day.

Peace One Day Concert
On September 21, 2007, a Peace One Day concert featuring performances from Annie Lennox, Cat Stevens, Corinne Bailey Rae and several others was held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England. A similar event is scheduled for the same location to commemorate Peace Day 2008.Quote
