Paul Pierce is an All-Star Guard for the Boston Celtics. He is recognized as one of the most versatile players in the NBA with his excellent all around game. As of 2008, he has been selected to the NBA Eastern Conference All-Star team six straight years. Pierce was the winner of the 2010 NBA Three-point Shootout, becoming the first Celtic to take the competition since Larry Bird.
On June 17, 2008, Pierce's Boston Celtics defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 6 of the NBA Finals to win the NBA title. Pierce was named the MVP of the 2008 NBA Playoffs.
On October 28, 2008, Paul Pierce received his NBA championship ring during a ceremony before the Season opener for the Boston Celtics. Among all his teammates, Pierce was the most visibly moved during the ceremony. Tears were visible as he received his ring. Early Life
Paul Anthony Pierce was born in Oakland, California on October 13, 1977. He attended Inglewood High School in Los Angeles, then the University of Kansas where he was coached by Roy Williams.
Pro Career
Pierce was selected with the 10th overall pick by the Boston Celtics in the 1998 NBA Draft. He quickly established himself as an elite player by being named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. He would later go on to be elected to six straight All-Star Games, while also leading the Celtics to the 2002 Eastern Conference Finals. Shaquille O'Neal is credited with giving Paul Pierce his nickname of The Truth after an impressive game against O'Neal and the Los Angeles Lakers.
