She is currently active in the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and is the Chairwoman of The United States Senate Subcommittee on Transportation and related agencies. Preceded by Brock Adams, Murray has been in office since 1993. Before a career in politics, she was a teacher in the state she currently represents.
