Patrick McDermott is the ex-boyfriend of Australian actress and singer Olivia Newton-John. Patrick McDermott bought a single ticket to board the fishing boat Freedom on June 30, 2005. He accompanied 22 other passengers as well as three crew members for the trip, which lasted less than a day. While he was spotted boarding, once on the boat he vanished. He was reported missing by family 5 days later when he did not show up for an event, but was not officially declared missing for 11 days.
