Patrick Marleau is an all-star forward in the National Hockey League. Since 2004, he has served as captain of the San Jose Sharks.
Career Highlights
Prior to his NHL days, Marleau played in the Senoir Mens Hockey Leagues in Saskatchewan, Canada. He joined the Western Hockey League in 1995, playing with the Seattle Thunderbirds. Marleau was drafted second overall in the 1997 NHL Draft by the San Jose Sharks. He immediately joined the Sharks for his NHL debut, playing 74 regular season games his rookie season. In 2004, he was selected for his first NHL All-Star Game appearance and was the Sharks player of the year. That same year he was named captain of the Sharks. Marleau was nominated for the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy in 2006 for his sportsmanship in the league. In August, 2007, Marleau re-signed with the Sharks to a two year contract extension worth a reported $12.6 million.
