Professional football defensive end Patrick Kerney plays for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League. Kerney began his career playing college football with the Virginia Cavaliers. He led the ACC in quarterback sacks and was selected as a first-team All-ACC. He made his NFL debut with the Falcons in 1999, playing in all 16 games and recording 2.5 sacks. Kerney earned a starting position in 2000 and continued to play every game with the Falcons through the 2005 season. In 2006, Kerney was limited to just nine games after suffering a torn pectoral muscle. On March 7, 2007, Kerney signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Seahawks.
