Football Career
Kerney began his career playing college football with the Virginia Cavaliers. He led the ACC in quarterback sacks and was selected as a first-team All-ACC. He made his NFL debut with the Falcons in 1999, playing in all 16 games and recording 2.5 sacks. Kerney earned a starting position in 2000 and continued to play every game with the Falcons through the 2005 season. In 2006, Kerney was limited to just nine games after suffering a torn pectoral muscle. On March 7, 2007, Kerney signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Seahawks.
