Patrick Kane

Patrick Kane was drafted first overall by the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Kane is a goal scoring forward and along with fellow young forward Jonathan Toews has helped rejuvenate the stagnant Chicago franchise lifting them into the playoffs in 2009 for the first time since 2002, and advanced to the conference finals for the first time since 1996.http://espn.go.com/chicago/teams/recap?gameId=290427003&sport=nhl

2009/10 Season

Patrick Kane has been under scrutiny due to photos of him and his teammates partying shirtless while on their 16-day roadtrip. The photos showed Kane and teammates Kris Versteeg and John Madden partying with women and drinking alcohol after a night of losing a game to the Vancounver Canucks. This brings into question how disciplined these players really are. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=Au1HJ99Jr0xMobxSnYuOSTtivLYF?slug=teamreports-2010-nhl-chi&prov=sportsxchange&type=team_report

This is not Kane's first issue while being anNHL player. Before the season started, Kane was arrested in the summer of 2009 in his hometown of Buffalo,NY for an incident with a taxi cab driver. Kane allegedly punched the cab driver and took $15 in fare they had given him after he said he didn't have 20 cents in change, a police report says. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=4387102

Although Kane has been involved with bad news during the season, he has had some good news as well. The Blackhawks signed Kane to a 5 year, 31.5 million dollar extension December 3rd, 2009. This extension will help keep the young core of the Blackhawks together for years. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/story/2009/12/03/sp-hockey-hawks-signing.html

Kane has managed to stay at the top of the scoring categories in the NHL along with his teammate Jonathan Toews. Due to his success, Kane will play for the United States Hockey team in the Winter Olympics that start February 12th, 2010. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/story/2009/12/03/sp-hockey-hawks-signing.html

The Blackhawks are battling for the top spot in the Western Conference and should make the playoffs this season. If they advance, it could set up a great matchup if they play the first place San Jose Sharks.

2008/09 Season

Patrick Kane finished this season with 25 goals and 45 assists, 70 points total. While managing to score almost a point a game, Kane had a -2 while on the ice for the 80 games that he played this season.

Kane was still adjusting to life as an NHL player as the 2008-2009 season was only Kane's second season in the NHL. Kane did build off of his success as a rookie scoring 25 goals in 2008-2009 season which is four more than his rookie season in the 2007-2008 season. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/4240/career;_ylt=As5TuHdpfeJ3xfguX3r_lGRivLYF

2007/08 Season

Kane was drafted during the 2007 draft early in June. The Blackhawks did not waste any time getting Kane into their starting lineup. He played in all 82 games that season and was phenomenal.

Kane would finish the season scoring 21 goals and adding 51 assists for a total of 72 points. While on the field, Kane had a -5 which is very good for rookie NHL players. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/4240;_ylt=Agl4xNIZACFIMNBVf4azfglivLYF

His hardwork and dedication paid off and it showed in his success. The NHL also rewarded Kane as well. After the 2007-2008 season was over, Kane was presented with the Rookie of the Year Award. A great end to a very impressive season for Patrick Kane.
