Inspired by Injury
- In 1971, Patrick Farrell was out trick-or-treating for Halloween when he was shot in the right eye by a BB gun pellet. As a result of his injury, Farrell had both eyes bandaged shut while spending a week recuperating at Larkin General Hospital in South Miami.
Farrell has said the injury affect his view of the world and he began to pay more attention to light and details. Also as a result of the childhood eye injury, Farrell holds the camera up to his left eye when he shoots, as opposed to his right eye as most people do.Miami Herald: Patrick Farrell Wins Pulitzer (April 20, 2009)
