Patrick Dempsey

American actor Patrick Galen Dempsey was born January 13, 1966 in Lewiston, Maine. He is married to Jillian Fink Dempsey and has 3 children. Talula Fyfe and twins Darby and Sullivan. Patrick started acting in the early 1980's with hits such as Can't buy me Love, Heaven help us and Loverboy. More recently Patrick has been seen playing hunky Derek Shepherd on ABC's popular Grey's Anatomy which is ready to go into its 7th season soon. Patrick is known for his stunning blue eyes and black wavy hair. Unknown facts that many fans don't know is that Patrick has two of his own colognes through Avon. Unscripted and Patrick Dempsey II. It is also not well know that Patrick is an accomplished race car driver. Currently racing with Mazda Racing, Patrick's team Dempsey Racing is doing well currently in 5th position in the Rolex 24 series. Patrick co-owns 2 teams; Vision Racing and Dempsey Racing. Everybody has been touched by cancer. Patrick and his family was touched by cancer when his mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

In the words of Patrick himself:

After this experience, I knew that I wanted to make a difference, to give back to the community that helped my mom through her cancer journey.

With the help of Central Maine Medical Center, we've created The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing."

The Dempsey Center is so much more than a medical center. They offer alternative healing, support, education and more. All are free to the patient and the center is supported by charity donations as well as the Dempsey Challenge. A yearly bike race/ run commited to funding the Dempsey Center.

Dempsey plays neurosurgeon Dr. Derek Shepherd on the ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy. He is often referred to by the other doctors as "McDreamy". Derek moved to Seattle to get away from his wife Addison and met intern Meredith Grey. Meredith and Derek have had their ups and downs and have found their way to each other time and time again. In series 5 Meredith and Derek finally get married on a blue post it note, something that has made fans wonder if it is a real MerDer marriage.

Patrick Dempsey started racing awhile back at the encouragement of his wife Jillian who bought him a lesson from Skip Barber school for race car driving. After a series of schools Patrick took it to a professional level. Patrick is now coming into his own. Having been chosen to go to the LeMans race in France, Patrick, Joe Foster and Don Kitch went as Team Seattle and took sponsors to donate to Childrens Hospitals. The team made over 250K in donations for the hospitals and Patrick got to fulfill a dream of his and of his fathers. Patrick co-owns two racing teams. Vision Racing and Dempsey Racing.
