American actor Patrick Dempsey currently portrays Dr. Derek Shepherd (aka Dr. McDreamy) on the hit ABC show, Grey's Anatomy. Before his current success Dempsey had a long and varied career in such films as Can't Buy Me Love Jeremiah, and Sweet Home Alabama. Dempsey is know for his trademark dark and wavy hair, and has placed second for three years running on People's Sexiest Man Alive list.Many fans do not know that Patrick Dempsey is also an accomplished race car driver. He has raced many different types of cars, including Ford Mustang, Mazda RX8 and has held the accomplishment of finishing the LeMans race while driving a Ferrari in June 2009. Patrick also co-owns 2 different racing teams. Vision Racing and Hyper Sport Racing which has now changed its name to Dempsey Racing

Patrick Dempsey Cancer Center for Hope and Healing
Patrick's mother has had ovarian cancer on a few different occasions and beat it. Grateful she is in remission, Patrick wanted to do something to help cancer victims as well as their families.Patrick's sister Mary Dempsey helps with the running the cancer center and in October, 4 2009 there will be a charity race/run to help raise funds for the center.

Dempsey Racing
Patrick Dempsey started racing awhile back at the encouragement of his wife Jillian who bought him a lesson from Skip Barber school for race car driving. After a series of schools Patrick took it to a professional level. Patrick is now coming into his own. Having been chosen to go to the LeMans race in France, Patrick, Joe Foster and Don Kitch went as Team Seattle and took sponsors to donate to Childrens Hospitals. The team made over 250K in donations for the hospitals and Patrick got to fulfill a dream of his and of his fathers. Patrick co-owns two racing teams. Vision Racing and Dempsey Racing. -
