New Orleans-born actress and Yale graduate Patricia Clarkson made her film debut in 1987's The Untouchables. She has won two Emmy awards for her work as "Aunt Sarah" in HBO's Six Feet Under, and received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress in the 2003 film Pieces of April.
In 2009, Clarkson has supporting roles in Woody Allen's Whatever Works and the Martin Scorsese thriller Ashecliffe.
Career
Following Clarkson's debut in 1987 in The Untouchables, she went on to have small roles in a series of films and television shows. She appeared in The Dead Pool and on episodes of Law & Order, Davis Rules and Frasier. She had a small part in the 1995 film Jumanji before appearing in The Green Mile, and Far from Heaven. In 2002, she began a recurring role on the HBO series Six Feet Under. Clarkson earned her first Oscar nomination for her role in the 2003 film Pieces of April. The following year she appeared in the true life story of the Miracle On Ice in the Disney film Miracle. More recently Clarkson has starred in Lars and the Real Girl and Married Life, both in 2007.
