"In creating a sequel bursting with new features, Studio Japan has lost some of the essence that made Patapon such a simple, fun game. Sure, the core gameplay remains fundamentally unchanged...[b]ut the introduction of a clunky evolution tree that overcomplicates the levelling up system will inevitably test the patience of most players... Patapon 2 is certainly not a disaster: the multiplayer mode, while light, is enjoyable enough...but after such a promising start to the series we expected something really special in the sequel, and in that respect Patapon 2 falls short of the mark."—IGNIGN: Patapon 2 UK Review (February 27, 2009)
  • About the Game

In the sequel to 2008's Patapon, players again lead a tribe of Patapons against an army of frightening monsters. The story picks up where the first game left off and the mighty Patapons set off in their newly constructed boat to travel across the ocean. Soon afterward, a kraken overturns the ship and the would-be sailors are washed onto the shore of a strange land...

Patapon 2 combines action gameplay elements with those of a rhythm-based game. There is 200% more content than the original Patapon, including nearly 100 missions, special weapons and gear, as well as new characters and drum beat commands.IGN: Patapon 2

In the original game, there were seven different unit types, each with a different strength and weakness. Patapon 2 introduces three new units: Toripon, a flying bird; Robopon, a robot that can throw rocks; and Mahopon, a magician type who uses different staves to bless the army and cast devastating spells.IGN: Patapon 2 Wikipedia: Patapon 2
