Patapon 2 Retail Download

The retail version of Patapon 2 will only be available via digital download. That's right. There will be no UMD version of the game available when the game is released on May 5, 2009.
No UMD?

Those who own a Sony PSP or PlayStation 3 will be aware that Sony has long been steering their video game market towards a purely digital, download-only business model. Sony released a statement to Ars Technica that they are "considering a digital only format for Patapon 2 as a test case as we continue to explore consumer preferences." In other words, if gamers don't mind a digital-only option and sales of the game don't disappoint, Sony plans to make this the norm for games in the future.
Patapon 2 will be available from the PlayStation Network via download for $15 or can be purchased in retail stores for $19.99. Boxes bought in stores will contain only a download code inside.
