No UMD?
Those who own a Sony PSP or PlayStation 3 will be aware that Sony has long been steering their video game market towards a purely digital, download-only business model. Sony released a statement to Ars Technica that they are "considering a digital only format for Patapon 2 as a test case as we continue to explore consumer preferences." In other words, if gamers don't mind a digital-only option and sales of the game don't disappoint, Sony plans to make this the norm for games in the future.Patapon 2 will be available from the PlayStation Network via download for $15 or can be purchased in retail stores for $19.99. Boxes bought in stores will contain only a download code inside. So basically, players will be paying 5 bucks for a box.ars technica: Confirmed: Retail Patapon 2 to be UMD-free (April 13, 2009)
