Pat White

Quarterback Pat White plays for the Miami Dolphins of the NFL. White was selected 44th overall in the second round of the 2009 NFL draft from West Virginia. He holds the record for the most yards rushed by a quarterback in NCAA history.

Head Injury

During the Dolphins' game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on January 3, 2009, White received a helmet-to-helmet hit while running the ball and was carted off the field. Steelers defensive back Ike Taylor made the hit with 2:05 remaining in the 3rd quarter. The game was delayed for over eight minutes as doctors and trainers aided White before he was transported to Broward General Hospital. College Career

White entered West Virginia University in 2004, where he was redshirted, but helped relay signals to the Mountaineers. He saw playing time in 2005, making his first start, scoring eight touchdowns and recording 952 rushing yards. White continued to start for the Mountaineers as a sophomore in 2006, including scoring three touchdowns, 131 passing yards and 145 rushing yards in the Gator Bowl. He went on to help the Mountaineers defeat North Carolina in the Meineke Car Care Bowl, becoming the first starting quarterback to win four bowl games.
