On the April 1, 2008 edition of the syndicated game show, Wheel of Fortune, co-host Vanna White removed what appeared to be a toupée from the head of host Pat Sajak, revealing him to be bald underneath.
In the following days, it remained unclear whether the exchange was a prank, with a bald cap over Sajak's hair, or whether Sajak had in fact 'come out' as a bald man, having lost his hair or shaved his head. Most observers seem to endorse the latter explanation.
Sajak, at the end of the segment, noted that now he was qualified to host Deal or No Deal, a joke about the baldness of that show's host, Howie Mandel.
