Pat Knight is head coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders basketball team. Knight took over for his father, Bob Knight, who resigned from the position on February 4, 2008.
On February 23, 2009, Knight received a one-game suspension from the Big 12 Conference for his negative comments about game officials and the conference. Coaching Career
After graduating from Indiana University, where he played college basketball, Knight began his coaching career in 1998 in the International Basketball Association, leading the Wisconsin Blast. Later in the year, he moved to the United States Basketball League to coach the Columbus Cagerz. Knight returned to Indiana University in 1999, serving as an assistant coach. Starting in 2001, Knight was an assistant to his father, Bob Knight, for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He was promoted in 2004, to associate head coach. Just a year later, he was selected as the successor to his father as head coach of the team. Knight took over as head coach on February 4, 2008, when his father resigned. His first win as head coach came on February 13, 2008, when he led the team to a 84-75 win over the Kansas State Wildcats, who were ranked 18th at the time.
