Pat Hingle

Pat Hingle was an American film and television actor whose career spanned over six decades. He appeared in the first four Batman movies as Commissioner Gordon. Hingle most recently appeared in the 2008 drama Undoing Time. He also appeared in The List, alongside Malcolm McDowell and Hilarie Burton.

Hingle was diagnosed with myelodysplasia in November 2006.

1960 Elevator Accident

In 1960, Hingle found himself trapped in an elevator in his apartment building on West End Avenue. While trying to climb out of the elevator, which had become stuck between the second and third floors, Hingle lost his balance and fell 54 feet.
