Pat Buchanan is a conservative politician, pundit, and writer. He sought the Republican presidential nomination in 1992 and 1996 and was a presidential candidate for the Reform Party in 2000. He has been involved with many television shows, newspapers, and magazines over the course of his career and is currently a political commentator for MSNBC.
Republican Critic
Though he has rejoined the party, Pat Buchanan has remained a vocal critic of Republican policy positions. He is particularly critical of the policies of President George W. Bush. Favoring a more traditional conservatism, more akin to that of Republicans of the early 20th Century, Buchanan has criticized the president saying he is "Woodrow Wilson in foreign policy, FDR in trade policy, he's LBJ on immigration, but he's Reagan on judges." He argues that the Democratic and Republican parties have become indistinguishable. He calls for a return to what he has referred to as "traditional conservatism."
