  • The passion fruit, native to South America, is a round to oval fruit with a soft to firm interior that is sweet and tart and surrounded by many seeds.

    There are two basic types of passion fruit: yellow and purple. The yellow has a smooth thin rind while the purple has a think dark skin that is mildly poisonous.

  • Culinary Uses

    The fruit can be enjoyed plain or tossed in fruit salads. The juice is commonly used for cocktails or blended with other juices. It can be puréed to make jellies, sorbets, and ice cream.
