Parvati Shallow was most recently a contestant on the popular CBS reality TV show, Survivor: Heroes vs Villains. However, as it would eventually be revealed on live television on May 16, 2010, Shallow ultimately did not succeed in obtaining the show's top prize of $1 million dollars. And so, she did not receive the title of the season's Sole Survivor. Instead, this title was awarded to Shallow's fellow contestant, Sandra Diaz-Twine.
Before she was a contestant on this most recent, 2010–edition of Survivor, Shallow played the game during one of its earlier seasons—specifically, during the season titled: Survivor: Micronesia. Having already been a contestant on Survivor—and, more importantly, having played the game in such a way so as to leave a lasting impression upon the show's audience—Parvati Shallow was invited to participate once again.
With her most recent appearance as a contestant on CBS's Survivor: Heroes vs Villains, Parvati has participated in a total of three different seasons of the Survivor franchise.
Parvati is currently a resident of California, living within Los Angeles.
Survivor: Heroes vs Villains — Season Finale / Survivor Winner
On May 16, 2010, live at 10 PM EST, Jeff Probst tallied up the votes cast during the final tribal counsel and announced that Sandra Diaz-Twine had won the season's top prize of one million dollars. Parvati Shallow was among the final three contestants during this latest season of the hit CBS reality television show, Survivor. Sitting alongside both Russell Hantz and Sandra Diaz-Twine, Shallow did not receive enough votes from the jury in order to win the ultimate prize.
Shallow did, however, end up receiving many more votes from the jury than fellow contestant and alliance member, Russell Hantz. During this latest season of Survivor, once Shallow earned her spot within the final top-five remaining contestants, she was considered by many to have a good chance at being able to successfully win the $1M prize. Those holding this belief included the writers and contributors to the various unofficial Survivor-related websites, blogs, and community discussion forums.
Survivor: Heroes vs Villains — Fan Favorite / $100,000 Prize
After Survivor host Jeff Probst read each vote aloud (and ultimately declared Diaz-Twine the winner), he eventually announced the winner of the so-called Fan Favorite / Viewers' Choice. Again, many individuals writing their predictions of who might win what during the Survivor season finale chose Parvati as being a likely candidate for this particular prize. Shallow did not win this contest either, however, and thus did not receive the highest number of votes for being the season's fan favorite. As the name suggests, the winner of this award—in the amount of $100,000—must be chosen by the viewers of the show as opposed to their fellow members of the tribe and contestants on the show.
Russell Hantz would prove to succeeded at this, having ultimately received the highest number of votes from fans across the United States. During the live show, it was revealed by host Probst that Hantz' fellow contestant, Rupert Boneham, had himself received the second-highest number of similar votes. It is unclear, however, just how close—if at all—Boneham was to Hantz in terms of votes received for Survivor: Heroes vs Villains fan favorite.
Survivor: Heroes vs Villains — Casting / Game Rules
Survivor rules state that a contestant that has already played the game before cannot play again; they are ineligible to do so. The only exception to this rule, however, is if such a contestant is personally invited back to the show by CBS and the producers of Survivor as well.
Such an invitation, though, has historically only ever been offered when a special edition/season of Survivor is planned to take place. Parvati's appearance in the 2010 season of Survivor is an example of one such case. The '10 season was officially assigned the title of: Survivor: Heroes vs Villains—and was thus a special season of CBS's long-running and popular reality-TV franchise.
As the title of the show suggests, the season was initially divided into two different groups—or tribes, as they are referred to within the game. With one of the groups titled, The Heroes, and the remaining, The Villains, the concept behind this season was to gather the contestants perceived as being the "best of the best", the "worst of the worst", and create two diametrically opposed teams, each consisting of previous Survivor contestants. As a previous Survivor contestant, Parvati Shallow was selected for participation in the show and—for reasons not entirely known or relieved to the viewing public—assigned to tribe consisting sole of other so-called Villains.
