History
Papa John's founder John Schnatter (aka Papa John) worked during high school for a local pizza pub in Jeffersonville, Indiana and dreamed of one day opening a pizza restaurant that could deliver the quality he felt was missing from national pizza chains at the time.After graduating from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, Schnatter sold his beloved 1971 Z28 Camaro to get the money he needed for restaurant equipment.
He then knocked out a broom closet in the back of Mick's Lounge, a tavern in Jeffersonville owned by his fater, and began selling pizzas to the tavern's customers.
