  • A panic disorder is a type of anxiety disorder which causes panic attacks. It is believed that a person has a panic disorder if they have at least two panic attacks that occur with no reason followed by a month of fear of another panic attack occurring.
  • Symptoms

    Someone with a panic disorder may feel anxious all the time even when they are not having a panic attack. They will have a constant worry that another attack will happen.
  • Treatment

    Panic disorder is treatable. The treatment is usually decided on an individual basis. Antidepressants have proved to be effective in treating panic disorders. Also Cognitive behavior therapy is commonly used to treat panic disorders.
  • In Children

    Panic disorder can affect children and in some cases runs in families. If left untreated a panic disorder can affect a child's or adolescent's relationships, schoolwork and normal development. A child or adolescent with panic disorder can develop severe depression and even consider suicide.
