Panda Bear (musician)

  • Noah Lennox, aka Panda Bear, is a member of Animal Collective. He has released two full-length solo albums, the most recent being 2007's Person Pitch.
  • Formation of Animal Collective

Lennox and Animal Collective member Josh Dibb (Deakin) met and became friends in elementary school. Deakin became friends with Dave Portner (Avey Tare) and Brian Weitz (Geologist) in high school, and the four began to record together in 2000. After several albums of mixed collaboration, the band became Animal Collective and released Here Comes the Indian in 2003.
  • Solo Albums

Young Prayer consists of nine untitled tracks recorded shortly after the death of Lennox's father. Released in September 2004, it garnered favorable reviews, but took a back seat to Animal Collective's 2004 album Sung Tongs.

Person Pitch was released in March 2007 to nearly universal praise. Several publications considered it among the best albums of the year and it solidified Panda Bear as a strong indie musical presence, even without his band mates. Many reviews compared Panda Bear's songwriting and vocals to that of Brian Wilson.
