Palm Treo

Beginning in 2002, Palm introduced a series of smartphones called the Palm Treo. The idea was take the basic functionality of their Palm Pilot series of devices, which users were able to manage tasks like storing calendar events and contact lists with phone numbers and e-mail addresses, and incorporate the ability to have cell phone features such as voice telephony and text/SMS messaging. To date, there are 11 different model types of the Treo, available on both GSM and CDMA networks. Among the network carriers for the Treo are Sprint Nextel, AT&T; and Verizon. In 2007, Palm introduced the next level of the Treo phones, the Palm Centro, which is much lighter and easier to handle. The development of the Centro and its popularity has led many to speculate that Palm will begin phasing out future Treo model development.
