CNET states the Palm Treo 680 is "Very Good", scoring 7/10 due to the sleek design and ability to use Bluetooth as a wireless modem. Laptop Magazine praises the Treo 680 due to the design and ease of use. They believe Palm was smart to keep their design because it worked well and the touchscreen made it easy to cut and paste text along with in-call features.

CNET, PC Magazine and Engadget agree the lack of WiFi is unappealing. Engadget goes on to state they do not like the low-quality camera but like the increase in memory.
