Pakistan held legislative elections on February 18, 2008. They were originally scheduled for January 8, but were delayed after Benazir Bhutto was assassinated. President Pervez Musharraf's Pakistan Muslim League-Q was the previous majority power in the parliament. But an opposition coalition formed between Bhutto's Pakistan People's Party and Nawaz Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League-N. The opposition won a distinct majority over Musharraf's party.
