  • Pakistan's Constitution acts as the supreme law, and governmental blueprint for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Though it has been written and rewritten several times, it's current incarnation was drafted in 1973, and endorsed by acting president Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
  • History

    Pakistan ratified its first Constitution in 1956, declaring itself an Islamic Republic. Following a 1958 coup d'etat, the constitution was rewritten in 1962. The Pakistan Constitution has been amended, rewritten, overturned, and reinstated several times, but always includes Islamic provisions to insure that Pakistan remains an Islamic republic.
