In Painkiller: Resurrection, Wild Bill Sherman is a CIA assassin tasked with taking out political rivals. He has wired an explosive to the ignition of a car and waits as his latest target gets behind the wheel. At the same time, a school bus full of children pulls to a stop nearby. Sherman, horrified, begins racing toward the car...but it's too late. The would-be assassin is caught in the blast and dies on the road.
He awakens shortly afterward in a sort of parallel world where everything feels dark and slightly skewed. It's up to the player to figure out where he is and what has happened to him.IGN: Painkiller: Resurrection Revealed (April 9, 2009)
