Career Highlights
Axelsson began his career with the Vastra Frolunda in the Elitserien, or Swedish Elite League, in 1993. He was drafted 177th overall in the 1995 NHL Draft by the Boston Bruins. Axelsson continued to play in Sweden until 1997, when he made his NHL debut. He spent the next seven years playing nearly almost every regular season game with the Bruins. Axelsson returned to the Swedish Elite League during the 2004-05 NHL Lockout. Shortly after the lockout, Axelsson re-signed with the Bruins to a one year contract. In 2006, he represented Sweden in the Winter Olympics, helping the team win the gold medal. Axelsson then signed another contract extension with the Bruins on March 23, 2006, keeping him in Boston for three years. -
