  • Oxyuranus Temporalis is the scientific name for a new species of taipan snake discovered in Western Australia in 2007. The International Institute for Species Exploration at Arizona State University named the snake one of its Top 10 new species of 2007.

    Taipans, found only in Australia, are the deadliest snakes in the world, packing more venom than of their cousins. However, taipans rarely bite humans since they are only found in isolated areas trafficked by few people.
