OxiClean was developed by a team of scientists; Dr. Hannah Howard, Dr. Erin Miller, and Dr. Rachel Williams. It is made from Sodium Percarbonate (C2H6Na4O12), a product of sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).

The OxiClean products are most noted for their infomercials, featuring salesman and spokesperson Billy Mays. Mays’ distinctive advertising style and physical features made him the face of many household products, including OxiClean and Orange Glo. Mays began his career as a salesman on the Atlantic City boardwalk, where he sold household goods. As his career progressed, Mays began traveling on tour circuits, advertising various products. Mays met Max Appel, founder of Orange Glo International, at a home show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1993. He was subsequently hired by the company to promote their line of household cleaners. Four years after Mays was brought on as a spokesman for Orange Glo, the company introduced the OxiClean Multi-Purpose Stain Remover product to the market, in 1997. http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/Orange-Glo-International-Company-History.html
