Hockey Career
Owen Nolan was drafted by the Quebec Nordiques as the first overall NHL draft pick in 1990. He played in Quebec for four years and moved with the team to become a member of the Colorado Avalanche.
Early into the 1995-1996 season, Nolan was traded to the San Jose Sharks, where he remained for eight years. He became the Sharks team captain and led his team to five consecutive Stanley Cup Playoffs from 1998-2003.
After being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2003, Nolan played little for the next few years because of the lockout and serious knee injuries.
As a free agent, Nolan signed a one year contract to play with the Phoenix Coyotes for the 2006-2007 season. The next season found him playing with the Calgary Flames for his best season in years: He scored his first hat trick since 1999 and his first playoff goal since 2002.
